Driver's License
If you have a driver’s license from a country within the EU or Iceland, Norway or Liechtenstein, you can use it as your driver’s license as long as it is valid, or you can have it replaced by a Danish driver’s license – without taking any tests – if you live in Denmark.
Moreover, your driver’s license can be changed to a Danish driver’s license without any tests if it is issued in the following countries: Japan, the Republic of Korea (South Korea), Russia or Switzerland.
Replacing your driver’s license with a Danish license costs 260DKK (2009 rate).
Other foreign driver’s licenses can be replaced with a Danish license by having the licensed driver take a supervised test.
You must bring:
- Medical certificate issued by your own doctor
- A photo of yourself
- Your driver’s license
- A valid passport
If you do not have a Danish or Nordic citizenship, you must bring a valid residence permit (or a EU residence permit).
You must bring a translation of your driver’s license, if it is not issued in Latin type or if there is no German, French or English translation. The translation must be issued by an interpreter or by a translator approved by the National Commission of the Danish Police.
If you do not have a valid passport, you must bring an original birth or name certificate, and photo identification.
